The New 2009 Schoolhouse Planner is here!!! (Review)

Wow! That is truly the first word that came to mind when I saw The New 2009 Schoolhouse Planner from The Schoolhouse Store. 375 pages full of useful and helpful information for the homeschool and the home, finally all in one place!

Let me first state, that this is far from your typical school planner with just some forms and schedules. The Old Schoolhouse went above and beyond that to create a planner that is full of organization tools, as well as activities, lessons, educational information, household organization, and much, much more. This planner was well-thought out and includes so much that is going to be helpful to many homeschooler this year, myself included.

This is my first look at The Schoolhouse Planner. I had heard of The Schoolhouse Planner, but had never seen nor used one before this one came out. I will admit, I was hesitant at first when I saw the price at $39. But, as a member of the TOS Crew, I was able to preview this to review for you! Now, after having the chance to see all that’s included in The Planner, I am recommending it to everyone, it is definitely worth the cost! You won’t be disappointed. It will be money worth spent to get your homeschool and household on track for this school year. And, as an added bonus, from The Old Schoolhouse throughout the year there are add-on modules that are mini-unit studies for only $7.95 each that can be used along with the lessons in your planner.

You really won’t get the full effect of all that the planner entails until you see it for yourself, but let me just give you an idea of some of the great components that I thought were valuable to me.

  • Calendars - up to the year 2012!
  • Activities and lesson plans for you homeschool starting this summer with the month of July!
  • Recipes from homeschool families also for each month!
  • Lesson plans for history, math, science, safety, American Government, writing, Bible, Latin/Greek, a how-to on Lapbooks, College Prep, Homeschooling Around the World…you get the picture!
  • Tons of miscellaneous educational information!
  • Homeschool Forms including annual plans, yearly goal sheets, report cards, schedules, field trip planning, unschooling records, co-op planning, support group, attendance, book reports, the list goes on!
  • Household Forms including family health info, grocery lists and menu planning, chores, bible reading, directions, address book, and even pet health.
  • Timelines, Periodic Table of Elements, States and Capitals, high school transcripts, end of the year report cards, science lab sheets, books read, U.S. Documents, nature journal, even planners and activities for pre-school!
  • Also, a school supply list is included for you to keep up with school supplies, as a homeschooler, that is a big one for me!

Some other really great things that I really like about The Schoolhouse Planner is that it’s a downloadable e-book. I don’t have to wait for it to arrive in the mail, I can just save it to my computer and print off the sheets that I want when I need them, and I can finally have all of my homeschool and household information together in one place, organized once and for all! I also can’t wait to do the lessons included with my kids and check out the resources already listed for me! What a timesaver! I love the helping hand I’m getting with this planner. It is so much more than just a school planner for the year. It is a tool that will be my most useful tool for keeping our home and homeschool on track for this school year! I hope you’ll check it out and see for yourself!
