Recently, I received for review for the TOS Crew several lapbook kits on varying topics from A Journey Through Learning. I had seen this company before, but had never used their lapbook project kits, and was excited to give them a try. All of my children enjoy lapbooks, but my youngest, 2nd grader enjoys them the most, so I gave her the choice of which one she would like to do for the review. She chose to do the Autumn Lapbook....her favorite time of year, especially because her birthday is in Autumn!
The Autumn Lapbook for 2nd - 7th grade, and includes a Study Guide, which I love, because then we don't have to spend alot of time looking up our information to place in the lapbook. This lapbook study is chock full of information with many mini-books and activities too. There are plenty of step-by-step instructions that are clear and understandable, especially for the beginning lapbook user. A helpful supply list is also included, this product literally holds your hand while walking you through completing the lapbook. This lapbook is very bright and colorful with color-coded instructions that make it easy to put it all together. I found it very helpful how it even tells you where to glue each individual mini-book on your file folder, a great way to make sure they all fit! I also liked how you could use this lapbook with different ages, so that the students could do as little or as much writing in the mini-books as they desired. The mini-books were age appropriate for my 2nd grader, she was able to cut out all of the mini-books herself without any complications. The Study Guide was helpful, in that I didn't have to do any research to complete the lapbook. I just read the Study Guide to my daughter, and then we'd work on the mini-books to go along with what we had just read. We did a little bit each day, and it was very enjoyable for both of us. I found this lapbook to be very thorough with a lot of information, and plenty of pre-made mini-books to create a complete lapbook. In my opinion, it's priced just right and reasonably at $13.00 for Instant Download, $14.00 for CD, and Printed for $21.00.
If you have never tried lapbooks and wanted to begin using them in your homeschool, I think A Journey Through Learning Lapbooks would be a great place to start. They are great for the novice lapbook user to the more experienced lapbook user who enjoys having it all laid out for them. Even though we've been doing them for awhile, I still enjoy having it all laid out for me, especially with a Study Guide, saving us time on research so we can get right to the learning!

The Parables of A King Lapbook with Study Guide
When Jesus was on earth long ago in Palestine, he told many stories. In the Holy Bible these stories are called parables.
Jesus' parables have a double meaning. First, there is the literal meaning, apparent to anyone who has experience with the subject matter. But beyond the literal meaning lies a deeper meaning -- a beneath-the-surface lesson about God's truth and his kingdom.
When reading the parables it is important to not get bogged down in the details of the story. The main point is what counts. Each parable will typically present a single point.
In addition, Jesus often throws in a surprise or unexpected twist. These challenge the hearer and invite us to reflect. Jesus meant for his parables to provoke a response. If we listen with faith and humility then each will understand as he or she is able to receive what Jesus wishes to speak to each of our hearts.
