It's hard to believe that after this year, my firstborn will be an official high school student. It seems like only yesterday that she was entering kindergarten. With high school and her future adulthood fast approaching, she's now truly starting to give some serious thought to her career plans after graduation. It's tough being only 13, yet having to consider what you will do for the rest of your life. What career suits you best according to your interests and abilities? What are your strongest areas? Our experience with ACT DISCOVER:
Although the initial assessment didn't point my daughter to one particular career path or another, this program sure sparked her interest in exploring her career options. There is an interest inventory, as well as an abilities inventory with DISCOVER. My daughter used this program extensively to explore a few different careers that interest her, was able to look at many factors pertaining to each career, such as average salary, education required, which colleges offered programs for each particular career option, etc. This, she found very interesting and exciting to learn. Numerous amounts of information pertaining to several careers were very helpful to her. This really opened the door for us to discuss what her options look like for the future. This program is a fine way to light the spark and get the ideas flowing for your student's future plans, especially if they are interested in researching different career paths, or the one that suits them best according to their abilities in certain areas.
