We were very excited to receive the Exploramania GyMathtics DVD to review for the TOS Crew. GyMathtics mixes fitness with math! What's better than getting fit while learning? This 30 minute DVD features an energetic instructor and enthusiastic kids to get your kids moving and learning.
My kids couldn't wait to pop it in the DVD player and get started!
All learning styles can benefit from using GyMathics. The instructor demonstrates the exercise moves while graphics are displaying math concepts that go along with each exercise. The math included is targeted at students in 2nd to 5th grade, but children of all ages can enjoy this, although my 9 and 8 year old children enjoyed it the most!
A brief math concept overview coincides with each of the various stretches and exercises in subjects such as geometry, counting, skip counting, and place value. It is multi-sensory and will appeal to the active child. The instructor offers tips for a healthy lifestyle as well as encouraging thoughts. My children enjoyed it thoroughly!
Included on the GyMathtics DVD:
• Shape Stretches Warm Up - Stretch your mind and body with line, circle, and polygon stretches.
• Counting Calisthenics - Aerobic movements work your heart as fun counting concepts work your brain.
• Pattern Power - Growing and repeating pattern exercise combinations challenge minds and strengthen muscles.
• Well-Being Wind Down - Relaxing stretches cool down the body and open the mind to think about healthy lifestyle choices.
GyMathtics is a 30 minute DVD priced at $24.99 with a special FREE Shipping & Handling Promotion going on right now.
Although, this is no substitute for a math curriculum, it's a fine way to add fitness and a little math to your homeschool day.
