MathScore is is an online supplemental math program created by MIT graduates to provide adaptive math practice for students in first grade through Algebra 1 to raise math test scores.
Students in the math program learn learn simple and complex math skills to give them the extra math help they need to succeed.
There is a home version designed specifically for homeschoolers. Parents and students can use a free trial to see if this program is appropriate for their needs.
I used MathScore with my 4th and 2nd graders, as well as explored it on my own, and found it to be very simple and easy to navigate. Students work at their own pace, and have their choice of many topics in their grade level that they can work on at any given time. Each topic has a mini-lesson, as well as sample problems, and online worksheets for practice. An automatic grading system is used, saving the parent time. An activity summary is emailed to the parent of student's progress, as well as time spent on this program. This is great for parents that want to give their student some independence, yet still want to keep up with their student's time in the program, as well as view the progress they are making.
If you are looking for a no-frills, yet effective math supplement for improving your child's math skills or test scores, then MathScore is right for you. This is not intended to be used as a complete math curriculum.
MathScore starts at $14.95 per month for the first child, then is significantly lowered for additional children. For a 9-month commitment, the first child's price can be locked in at $9.95 per month. An option to freeze your account while on vacation is a big plus that is also included in a subscription.
