FREE Geography Lesson Plans ~ Maps Unit Study

I found a really nice FREE resource to share with you!

The Children's Museum of Indianapolis has FREE Geography Lesson Plans for you to view and print, and use in your homeschool. The lesson plans were created using National Geographic Tools for Adventure.

Each lesson gives Objectives, as well as Materials Needed, and tons of printable educational activities.

The Introduction explains the exhibit at the museum if you happen to go there, however, it's not necessary in order to use these lesson plans.

Lesson 1 is "Picture Your World" where students create a simple map of a familiar place using a map grid, map symbols, legends, and a compass rose and scale to examine and interpret different kinds of maps.

Lesson 2 is "A Famous Explorer: You!" where students discover that maps are modified over time because of changes that take place in the real world.

Lesson 3 is "New Tools: New Adventures" where students explore geospatial technologies such as satellite imagery, GPS, and GIS.

There is also a chapter on Culminating Experiences that helps students use all that they have learned to explore a topic of personal interest.

Also included is a list of Resources that includes a list of books, websites, and a glossary.

This is a wonderful FREE resource! Enjoy!
